We have the pleasure to invite M.A. and PhD students interested in linguistics, culture
studies, media studies, and sociology to participate in the conference organized by the
“Texts & Codes” student society at the Institute of English Studies, University of
Łódź. Though our society is mainly linguistically/semiotically oriented, we fully
appreciate the importance of interdisciplinary research, which is particularly relevant
in the case of the broad theme of our conference.
The papers may concern (but need not be limited to) the following areas:
· The linguistic characteristics of the particular series
· The interaction of the verbal and non-verbal elements
· Intertextuality
· Humor and the absurd
· Perspectives and points of view
· The social and cultural contexts of the series
Abstracts of 200-300 words should be sent to textscodes@gmail.com by 4th February
2012 at the latest. Depending on the number of prospective participants, the
conference may be extended to two days (25-26 Feb. 2012).
